OZONE'S HUNTERS

Half way laser, half way radar, the lidar (Light Detection and Ranging) in particular developped in the 80ies by researchers from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (among whom Prof. Jean Pierre Wolf, a young french physicist at that time) is a revolutionary tool capable of detecting and measuring, in real time and for distances as far as some tens of kilometers, the concentration of some of the major pollutants in the atmosphere and even more giving reliable 3D images of air pollution concentrations.
